Thriving communities, affordable homes A new approach to affordable housing Affordable rent offer for new affordable housing –£4.5bn (of which £2.5bn committed) –Rents set at up to 80% of market rent –Minimum two year tenancies with flexibility for longer Four year programme bids that offer: –Conversion of voids to affordable rents as well as access to other resources – minimising HCA funding –In return for investment in new supply at affordable rents –HCA payment on completion Rent and tenancy terms for existing tenants not affected –Other programme elements: Empty homes, Mortgage Rescue, Homelessness Change Programme and traveller pitch funding –Aim is to deliver up to 150,000 new affordable homes over the period
