Student Achievement Data Mount Olive Township Public Schools Winter 2016 RESULTS

The Mount Olive schools use the STAR 360 exam to measure English/Language Arts and Math academic gains for students in grades The assessments are designed to identify areas of accomplishment in each students by systematically increasing the difficulty of questions asked for each question a student answers correctly. For each wrong answer, the assessment system adjusts question difficulty a bit lower. The pattern of correct responses are then compared to all others responding to the same examinations nationwide to compute a percentile ranking. The assessment protocol is administered three times throughout the school year; once near the beginning in the year (in early October); once in the middle of the year (January) and once at the end of the year (early June). The slides that follow compare the scores for each student, class, and grade level on the STAR 360. The last few slides in this section compare subgroupings by specific program.

Subgroups Only students with both September and January scores were considered. T-scores measure the growth from one administration to the next compared to the standard deviation appropriate to that grade level, and school. – If the BSI or Sizzle t-score is greater than the ‘population’, the relative growth was greater. – If the t-score is smaller, the relative growth was smaller. – Keep in mind, most (if not all) of the students in both programs scored lower than their peers on the first administration.

MOHS Fall results Grade Distributions Each quarter, Mount Olive middle and high school student grade averages are compared to the end of quarter exam averages to compute a differential report. The ultimate goal would be to have students produce similar grades on the end of quarter comprehensive exam compared to the actual grade a student earned during the quarter. Results for Mount Olive High School grades for the second quarter of 2015 follow.
