Secondary Containment for Wind Farms

By using proven technology from C.I.Agent Solutions ®, you will protect: The environment Your equipment The property

1. Barrier Boom 2. Barrier Boom with Liner 3. Polyvinyl Blanket System with Barrier Boom Walls Multiple types of C.I.Agent ® Secondary Containment to choose from: All solutions exceed 40 CFR 112 SPCC requirements

C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom - Constructed of non-woven geo-textile material filled with C.I.Agent ® Granules and backed with Agent-X, a non-woven geo-textile material with C.I.Agent ® embedded within the fabric - Easy to install; typically completed in one or two days with no special tools - Equipment is kept fully energized during installation - Typically reduces containment costs by 50-80%

C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom How it’s Constructed The inner wall of the C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom is a basic geo-textile made from a patented blend of recycled synthetic polyester materials that are both hydrophobic and oleophillic. The material wicks the oil throughout its fibers and has a tremendous load capability per square inch. C.I.Agent ® is a non-toxic, non-hazardous, and environ- mentally friendly blend of cross-linking polymers that encapsulates transformer oils into a cohesive rubber- like mass on contact. Agent-X makes up the outer wall of the C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom. It is made of two layers of a geo-textile with C.I.Agent ® polymers embedded between the layers. The material itself has a tremendous filtering effect and keeps oil from passing through this unique final outside wall. Another unique feature is the quilting pattern (not shown) that keeps the C.I.Agent ® polymers from shifting during handling and installation.

A typical C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom install may look like this.

C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom Dike Containment Method for Pad Mounts A trench is dug around the pad mount and Barrier Boom is put in place.

C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom Dike Containment for Pad Mounts (cont.) Washed stone (AASHTO #57 or equivalent) is placed around the Barrier Boom.

C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom Dike Containment for Pad Mounts (cont.) Stone is then placed over the Barrier Boom to form a dike.

with Liner Method for Pad Mount C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom The site is prepared and vinyl is put in place.

with Liner for Pad Mount (cont.) C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom The vinyl is positioned against the pad mount and the tower base.

with Liner for Pad Mount (cont.) C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom The vinyl is adhered to the pad mount and tower base.

with Liner for Pad Mount (cont.) C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom Stakes and Barrier Boom are put in position.

with Liner for Pad Mount (cont.) C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom Barrier Boom is fitted up against the base and glued into position.

with Liner for Pad Mount (cont.) C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom A polyvinyl flap on the bottom of the Barrier Boom goes under the vinyl.

with Liner for Pad Mount (cont.) C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom Granular Bentonite ® is placed on the overlap of vinyl and Barrier Boom to form a clay seal.

with Liner for Pad Mount (cont.) C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom Washed stone (AASHTO #57 or equivalent) is placed around the Barrier Boom.

with Liner for Pad Mount (cont.) C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom The finished job.

- Provides 100+ percent hydrocarbon containment in sandy or undetermined subsoils - Made of 22 or 40 oz. polyvinyl with pre-formed corners - Sidewall are constructed C.I.Agent ® Barrier Boom to encapsulate the hydrocarbons - Custom made to your specifications C.I.Agent ® Polyvinyl Blanket System with Barrier Boom Side Walls

A typical C.I.Agent ® Polyvinyl Blanket System may look like this.

C.I.Agent ® Polyvinyl Blanket System with Barrier Boom Side Walls (cont.) Preparing the site.

C.I.Agent ® Polyvinyl Blanket System with Barrier Boom Side Walls (cont.) Pea gravel is placed around the pad mount.

C.I.Agent ® Polyvinyl Blanket System with Barrier Boom Side Walls (cont.) Polyvinyl Blanket is positioned around the pad mount.

C.I.Agent ® Polyvinyl Blanket System with Barrier Boom Side Walls (cont.) Vinyl is positioned up on the sides of the pad mount.

C.I.Agent ® Polyvinyl Blanket System with Barrier Boom Side Walls (cont.) Polyvinyl Blanket seams are glued.

C.I.Agent ® Polyvinyl Blanket System with Barrier Boom Side Walls (cont.) Adhesive is applied to the side of the pad mount and the polyvinyl is brought up and glued in place.

C.I.Agent ® Polyvinyl Blanket System with Barrier Boom Side Walls (cont.) The Barrier Boom side walls are staked.

C.I.Agent ® Polyvinyl Blanket System with Barrier Boom Side Walls (cont.) Granular Bentonite ® is poured around conduits and pipes.

C.I.Agent ® Polyvinyl Blanket System with Barrier Boom Side Walls (cont.) Washed stone (AASHTO #57 or equivalent) is placed on the Polyvinyl Blanket.

C.I.Agent ® Polyvinyl Blanket System with Barrier Boom Side Walls (cont.) The stone is spread around and the job is done.

C.I.Agent ® Polyvinyl Blanket System with Barrier Boom Side Walls (cont.) Finished job.
