OUR CURRENT STATE

CAREER READINESS ● 20 Transcripted and Articulated Courses ● Project Lead the Way certified which will allow our students to earn college credit from MSOE while at BMHS. Currently up to 15 credits. ● Classes are also transripted with Blackhawk Technical College. ● Students can also receive College credit at the University of Iowa.

CAREER CENTER ● Career & College Exploration ● Community partnership ● Collaboration with outside organizations ● Commitment to create Best In Class Model with stakeholders ● Dedicated Career Advocate funded by industry

CTE ADVISORY COMMITTEES ● Programs are Advisory Committee driven. ● Responsive to the needs of industry. ● What we offer today may be different in the future. ● Input on curriculum, equipment and general direction. ● Help to make sure programs are relevant and rigorous. ● Gateway for student experiences in Youth Apprenticeship.

STUDENT HOUSE BUILD ● 1st Student House Build ● Donated properties at 321 Ridgeland and 2169 Staborn ● Juniors and Seniors ● Build a home from the foundation up ● Collaboration from industry: CCI, Amp Electric, Quigley Smart, Schuh Plumbing, ABC Supply, Local 890, BJ Electric. ● Help revitalize neighborhoods ● Year long project to be completed by the end of the school year.

CNC MACHINING ● 12 new Haas CNC lathes and mills ● Increased enrollment (Scot Forge,North American Tool, Precision Plus) ● Goal of producing a part, material provided by Scot Forge. ● Student field trip to International Manufacturing Trade Show. (McCormick Center)

WELDING ● 17 New Miller MIG and TIG welders. ● Increased enrollment 89 in to over 200 in ● Articulated courses with Blackhawk Technical College.

TECHNOLOGY INCUBATOR ● Advisory committee development in the areas of Computer Science and Information Technology ● Collaboration with Premier Technologies, AccuLynx, Hendricks Holding, Beloit College and others willing to participate. ● Incubator to place students into tiered programs and teams based on the level of knowledge and expertise. ● Youth Apprenticeship and Internship experiences for students.

PROJECT LEAD THE WAY/ENGINEERING ● Recently Certified in the Engineering Pathway by MSOE and PLTW. ● 4 Courses, IED, DE, CSE, ICS and POE ● Development of First Lego League (FLL) Robotics Club ● Considering additional course: Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM)

BMHS AUTOMOTIVE NATEF Certified Program (Recertified in School Year). Advanced Standing courses with Blackhawk Technical College. Transcripted credit with Gateway Technical College. AYES (Automotive Youth Education System).

FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES ● Partnership with Aramark ● Helps provide Youth Apprenticeship experiences for students. ● New School Store (Knight Corner) ● Knight Spot (Student run facility)

BUSINESS EDUCATION ● Advisory Committee Development in Personal Finance, Business, Accounting, Marketing. ● New courses in Coding and Application Development. ● Personal Finance is now a graduation requirement. ● Exploring the option of having a bank in BMHS.

WORK TODAY PILOT PROJECT ● Work Today encourages job growth by moving low-income individuals and job seekers with limited work experience into meaningful employment. ● 6 week training, 1st week concentrated on soft skills. ● Used Beloit Memorials CNC Haas Training Center to provide hands on training for participants. ● Students graduated with two National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) credentials. ● Working to create more learning opportunities with outside organizations in Welding and CNC.

CTE STAFF EXTERNSHIPS ● First hand exposure. ● Design and implementation of curriculum. ● Expand industry based knowledge that can transfer to curriculum. ● Engage students in cooperative learning and open-ended real-life, problem-based assignments. ● Strengthen Education and Business connection.
