WINNING THE BATTLE OUTSIDE LOSING THE BATTLE WITHIN…

THE BATTLE WITHIN 19 FOR I DO NOT DO THE GOOD I WANT TO DO, BUT THE EVIL I DO NOT WANT TO DO—THIS I KEEP ON DOING. 20 NOW IF I DO WHAT I DO NOT WANT TO DO, IT IS NO LONGER I WHO DO IT, BUT IT IS SIN LIVING IN ME THAT DOES IT (ROM 7:19-20, 24)

WHAT’S THE SOLUTION?

I’VE TRIED EVERYTHING AND NOTHING HELPS. I’M AT THE END OF MY ROPE. IS THERE NO ONE WHO CAN DO ANYTHING FOR ME? ISN’T THAT THE REAL QUESTION? THE ANSWER, THANK GOD, IS THAT JESUS CHRIST CAN AND DOES. HE ACTED TO SET THINGS RIGHT IN THIS LIFE OF CONTRADICTIONS. ROM 7:24-25 (MSG)

THEREFORE, THERE IS NOW NO CONDEMNATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS, BECAUSE THROUGH CHRIST JESUS THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT WHO GIVES LIFE HAS SET YOU FREE FROM THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH. (ROMANS 8:1- 2)

3 THE LAW OF MOSES WAS UNABLE TO SAVE US BECAUSE OF THE WEAKNESS OF OUR SINFUL NATURE. SO GOD DID WHAT THE LAW COULD NOT DO. HE SENT HIS OWN SON IN A BODY LIKE THE BODIES WE SINNERS HAVE. AND IN THAT BODY GOD DECLARED AN END TO SIN’S CONTROL OVER US BY GIVING HIS SON AS A SACRIFICE FOR OUR SINS. 4 HE DID THIS SO THAT THE JUST REQUIREMENT OF THE LAW WOULD BE FULLY SATISFIED FOR US, WHO NO LONGER FOLLOW OUR SINFUL NATURE BUT INSTEAD FOLLOW THE SPIRIT. (ROM. 8:3-4) THE BATTLE WITHIN

THE WAR IS OVER…!

4 HE DID THIS SO THAT THE JUST REQUIREMENT OF THE LAW WOULD BE FULLY SATISFIED FOR US, WHO NO LONGER FOLLOW OUR SINFUL NATURE BUT INSTEAD FOLLOW THE SPIRIT. ROM 8:4 (NIRV) THE KEY TO WIN “THE BATTLE” WITHIN IS WALKING BY THE SPIRIT

PUT OFF YOUR OLD SINFUL NATURE AND YOUR FORMER WAY OF LIFE, WHICH IS CORRUPTED BY LUST AND DECEPTION. INSTEAD, LET THE SPIRIT RENEW YOUR THOUGHTS AND ATTITUDES. PUT ON YOUR NEW NATURE, CREATED TO BE LIKE GOD—TRULY RIGHTEOUS AND HOLY. EPH 4:22-24 THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL RENEW YOUR THOUGHTS & ATTITUDES

I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU AND CAUSE YOU TO WALK IN MY STATUTES, AND YOU WILL KEEP MY JUDGMENTS AND DO THEM. EZEKIEL 36:27 THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL EMPOWER YOU,HE WILL LEAD YOU INTO TRIUMPH.

LET THE HOLY SPIRIT GUIDE YOUR LIVES. THEN YOU WON’T BE DOING WHAT YOUR SINFUL NATURE CRAVES…THE SPIRIT GIVES US DESIRES THAT ARE THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT THE SINFUL NATURE DESIRES. THESE TWO FORCES ARE CONSTANTLY FIGHTING EACH OTHER, SO YOU ARE NOT FREE TO CARRY OUT YOUR GOOD INTENTIONS. 18 BUT WHEN YOU ARE DIRECTED BY THE SPIRIT, YOU ARE NOT UNDER OBLIGATION TO THE LAW OF MOSES. (GAL 5:16-17)

BUT THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS LOVE, JOY, PEACE, LONGSUFFERING, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, 23 GENTLENESS, SELF-CONTROL. AGAINST SUCH THERE IS NO LAW. GAL 5:22-23 THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL LEAD YOU TO BEAR THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
