Think! – on line Survey (July 2005 – 1000 participants) Almost one in five (18%) teenagers reported having been involved in a Road accident or ‘near miss’ on their way home from school Six out of Ten had either been in an accident/near miss or knew someone at school who had been 62% of 11 to 16 year olds admitted being distracted by talking to friends as they cross the road 36% of girls and 25% of boys said they get distracted by using their mobile phones
Tips For Teenage Road Users As a pedestrian you must be fully attentive, at all times BE SAFE, BE SEEN!! Edge out gently if crossing behind parked cars on a busy road When in a group, always behave near the road side Always carry your mobile phone in case of emergencies
