Alexander Graham Bell Alexander Graham Bell was a Victorian scientist also a inventor, engineer and other things. He was born in Edinburgh on the 3 rd March 1847 and died on the 2 nd August 1922.

Alexander Graham Bell Alexander Graham Bell was born on the 3 rd March 1847 in Edinburgh in Scotland. Alexander’s farther, Grandfather and Brother where associated with work on speech and elocution. His Mother and wife were both deaf therefore Alexander did a lot of research on hearing and speech. He had 4 children two sons who died in infancy and was left with two Daughters.

His career Alexander’s career started at the age of 12. He invented a device that could remove the husk from wheat and it was very successful for many years. Alexander then became a scientist and inventor. He worked with speech and hearing and introduced the speech system to the Boston school of deaf mutes. In October 1872 Alexander opened a school for deaf people in Boston called the Vocal physiology and Mechanics of speech, it took 30 pupils. He also worked as a private tutor and one of his famous pupils was Helen Keller. Helen Keller was unable to speak, hear and see.

About Alexander Bell Alexander was a very hard working person and spend his entire days in experimentation. He spent all his days and evenings doing private tutoring. He stayed up late nearly every night working on his experiments. However, this drained his health although he had given up teaching he kept only two students and they both helped him in many ways. One of them was, Mabel Hubbard, who later on became his wife.

His Accomplishments Alexander was awarded the FIRST American Patent for the inventions of the telephone in It said that Antonio Marcie was actually the real inventor of the telephone but he did not have any money to protect his invention. Alexander’s research made him invent and innovate many other things too. He also did a lot of work in hydrofoils and aeronautics. Another strange characteristic of Alexander was he hated to be disturbed when he was working, so he refused to have a telephone in his study.

His Awards Alexander was awarded the ‘Volta’ in 1850, he received 50,000 francs for the invention of the telephone. Along with Gardiner Hubbard, Graham Bell established a publication called science in The French Government awarded him the ‘Legion of honour’. ‘The Albert Medal’ was awarded by Royal society of arts in The University of Wurzburg granted Bell a ph.D.

His DEATH Bell’s health suffered a lot because of his intense workaholic nature. He died of pernicious anemia on the 2 nd of August Upon the death of Bell, all the American Telephones stopped their dialling for one minute as tributes to the great man whose Yearning to communicate made them possible. Today some people say “I will give you a bell later” because that was his surname and some people say it because of the sound it makes.
