Lugares Importantes El Morro -a fort built to protect the bay of San Juan from the 16th century to the 20th century. Now, it is a museum and the most photographed site in Puerto Rico. The architecture is impressive. It has mysterious tunnels, dark dungeons, and fabulous views of the bay.
Lugares Importantes Arecibo Observatory -It is one of the largest radio telescopes in the world. Scientists use it to study the earth, the moon, and other celestial bodies. It is even used to look for extraterrestrial intelligence.
Animales El coquí The coquí grows no longer than an inch and a half and has nearly translucent (see through) skin, so it blends in well with its surroundings. Its high-pitched sound can be heard from far away.

La Historia When the U.S. defeated Spain in 1898, Puerto Rico became part of the U.S. In 1917, Puerto Ricans became U.S. citizens and in 1952 the island became a Commonwealth (part of the U.S. but with the power to govern itself).
