SIS Capstone Genesys Works Recruitment Presentation Jason Navarrete

Capstone topic Genesys Works (Houston) was my #SISCAPSTONE project due to the fact of my completion of Genesys Works and being placed in a meaningful Internship. The reason I made this topic my Capstone project was because I wanted to show the SIS juniors that there is a bigger picture as compared to McDonalds. The reason I say that is because if you are evaluated good with in the 8 week training period then you are a potential candidate for an internship in the given field. 2

What did I set out to learn? I set out to learn to see what students/candidates are good future “interns” for GW regarding academic wise, and if they have good frame of mind. I set out to help inform students of the available internship/eight week training and all the given fields offered by GW. I am a rep of the Accounting aspect and I would be able to guide them through what I encountered to land an Accounting Internship at Boardwalk Pipeline Company. 3

Research Argument Why are Internships a good idea and why do they lead to College success 4

Research Findings More than 95% of our 2008 & 2009 interns currently enrolled in a post-secondary profession plan, 75% of students who completed the GW program are either still in college or have graduated. The NACE say that 70% of students that participated in internships are offered jobs and 44% get offered higher salary. 44% of students that participated in internships are offered and seek higher education with in the field they majored/studied. 5

Why did I choose to do this project? The reason I choose to do this project was because I found it fundamental to encourage and establish a relationship with the lower class men about earning a meaningful internship. This would benefit the International Community by having a greater number of students applying and actually getting accepted to the program and earning a internship as compared to this years ratio. 6

What did I do for the project? I established lot’s of adds and billboard presentations for both GW and FBLA. I also held a all junior assembly for the juniors with GW rep Lindsay Drummond and introduced the students to the whole GW fields. Also I would take decision of what students are potential candidate’s for the program and guide them through the application process. Out of the 120 students only 2 rejected the offer. 7

If so contact: Jason Navarrete for more details Are you an outgoing person? Want to gain knowledge in a College field career? Or

Research I was provided with statistics/articles from Genesys Works coordinator‘s also printed out articles of internships and college success. In general the average student that lands an internship with in the field they “want” get to experience if that’s there calling. Making them save time and money when they stick to one main major in a post secondary education. 9

Recruitment Timeline 10

Projection Overview 11

Projection Overview 12

Learning Experience I got to collaborate with lower class man and explain to them my journey from a regular junior to a successful intern for a well recognized company. I also learned that not every one is designed for the corporate world. I learned to establish relationships with students as there go to person for the GW recruitment program with any questions that they have. 13

Global and local connections Globally wise I am encouraging students to land the internship to major with in the given field that they desire and later on attending post secondary education to major with in that field. Locally I am helping the international community improve there scores of students being accepted and actually landing the internship. 14

Conclusion's of my findings I believe that the conclusion of my findings would be very conspicuous to the International community and my behalf to see all the students applying and getting accepted and being evaluated as potential candidates for an Internship with in the field’s of there choice. 15

What was my greatest success? Why? I believe my greatest success was speaking in front of all the juniors and talking to them about my GW journey and encouraging to apply and leaving there information with me to contact them later on. Also I consider a major success of completing Capstone with all the wonderful staff/administrators that made this possible for my success. Therefore showing that a person with an internship can still manage school and work most importantly. 16

What was my greatest challenge? Why? Overall my greatest challenge would be to persuade the juniors that there internship could help and benefit them in the long run. 17

What did I learn about the world? Why? I learned that Genesys Works is branching of and creating a new location within the San Francisco bay area. Adding to the other locations that they currently have in Houston etc. They are currently merging with new companies to place interns and I was that lucky one to be the first intern for Boardwalk to experience. 18

Expansion Project on-leaders-welcome-national-social-innovator- genesys-works-to-world-s-tech-epicenter-san- fran_news#.UMZtJuTAeSohttp:// on-leaders-welcome-national-social-innovator- genesys-works-to-world-s-tech-epicenter-san- fran_news#.UMZtJuTAeSo 19

What did I learn about myself? Why? I learned that it all falls down on the individual if they want to take advantage of opportunities that is presented before them. At the end of the day you can’t force someone one to do something they don’t wouldn’t want to do. It all narrows down to there imitative and that’s the key to success 24/7 in real life to see how independent you are. 20

How would I use this information to change the world in the future? I would use this information in the future to show the future GW interns that one’s work actually could impact you’re life. College wise and connection wise. 21

Conclusion I want to have doubled the amount of students being elected to participate in the GW Program and going through to earn an internship. 22
