SCE GOES GREEN

Who are we?

Why? *** Research Question *** What is our plan? *** Collecting Data *** Results *** Conclusion The Content

 The earth is warming up!  All these greenhouse gasses!  Reduce the Carbon Footprint Why?

We need to prevent this !

Research Question How can we reduce the carbon footprint of ‘Stedelijk College Eindhoven’ to prevent global warming and contribute to a sustainable living?

What is our plan? We want the school to turn GREEN We start with calculating the carbon footprint of our school. Change starts with yourself

Collecting Data  School days in a year  Number of students attending the school  Electricity usage (MWh)  Gas usage (terms or Mcf)  Transportation statistics  How many motorized vehicles (car/scooter) take a part in transportation each day  Average number of trips per day  Average one-way trip length  % of students taking the bus, or number of students taking the bus  Average number of trips  Average bus one-way trip length  Various garbage disposal data

Results School days in a year 195 Number of students attending the school  1600 students and 160 co-workers

Conclusion The school can do many things to reduce its carbon footprint. What can the school do?

Electricity consumption  Turn of light and reducing the amount of lights in the school.  Turn of computers in the school when there are not being used.  Use green energy!

Gas consumption  Lowering the temperature of the central heating.

Transportation  Carpooling  Promote greener cars  More biking

Waste  Only throw away paper that is really unusable.  Reduce the use of paper.  Reduce food waste.  Compost better.  Recycle more!

We hope that we inspired a lot of schools to contribute to a more sustainable living at school...

Thank you for listening!
