National awards and accreditation scheme for licensed premises Venues are assessed against a set of agreed criteria, with a chance to win awards and gain publicity Designed on a partnership basis Currently running in over 80 locations across the UK Independent board currently chaired by Lord Rupert Redesdale BII helps and fosters future development of the scheme

Who’s involved In Nottingham? Scheme co-ordinated by We Are Nottingham (Business Improvement District) Nottingham’s 2010 scheme developed by a steering group including CDP, City Council, NBAC, Nottinghamshire Police and We Are Nottingham Funding support provided by the CDP, Diageo and We Are Nottingham Assessment support provided by City Council Licensing team, Iwona at NBAC and former licensee and NVQ trainer Mike Sheriston

The structure of the scheme Venues apply by the end of April and are made aware of the assessment criteria (pay a small fee) Trained assessors visit those premises and assess against the agreed criteria Venues meeting all “Essential” criteria pass, and then get more points for any desired or bonus criteria that they meet All accredited venues are added to the website, customers vote their winners. The highest scoring venues are shortlisted and presented to a judging panel to choose the winners by score too

The benefits Recognises and rewards responsible operators Raises the profile of Nottingham as a safe city to enjoy a night out Can reduce alcohol related crime and disorder May provide operators with ideas to improve your operation Allows the police and city council licensing to work with licensees to drive up standards of alcohol retailing Many marketing benefits, including a 6 week Trent FM campaign, etc
