Solutions, Solvents & Solutes L/O :- To understand the terms solution, solute, soluble, insoluble, dissolve and solvent

How could you test your ideas? Can you identify water??? Look at the different liquids – try to identify which is a) water b) ethanol c) sugar water d) brine How could you test your ideas?

Does the salt disappear? Would this happen with sand? What happens when you put salt with water? Pure?! Even though the water still looks ‘pure’, this term is wrong. Pure would mean there were only water particles, however we now have water particles + sugar particles! How can you tell if something is soluble? This is a solution because it is transparent (see through) even though it is coloured This is not a solution because the solid has not dissolved and has settled at the bottom This is not a solution because it is not transparent. This is milk and the fat has not dissolved in the liquid

How can you separate sand and water? How could you get the pure sand back from a sand and salt mixture? How do you think this works? Sand and water
