Creating and enhancing a multisectoral network to help the victims of sexual violence ESTONIAN SEXUAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION

Expected results: 1.scientific report about the prevalence of different forms of sexual violence and victims characteristics available; 2.public awareness and intolerance of sexual violence and availability of support services for victims of such violence raised; 3.first aid and rehabilitation pilot services established; 4.internet counselling for the victims of sexual violence established; 5.guide for working with victims of sexual violence in the health care system created and introduced in the training seminars for the health care personnel all over Estonia; 6.the capacity to meet the needs of the victims of sexual violence raised among the health care personnel and the problem acknowledged among the leaders of health care units, Norwegian experience and expertise incorporated; 7.multi-sectoral training delivered and skills and willingness of specialists of different sectors (medical, women’s support centers, forensic medical, police, attorney) to deal with victims of sexual violence; 8.the capacity of NGOs participating in the project enhanced and under their leadership, a broad-based network to prevent and manage gender-based violence in Estonia developed. 3

Some of the results ( change in attitudes) % of people in Estonia think that women who have let themselves kiss and hug suppose not to refuse sex (2014: 15%, decrease 6%) 2. 28% of people think that people who have been raped and who have been consuming alcohol, are themselves responsible for what happened (2014: 39%, decrease 11%) 3. 6% of people think that those who have been raped are themselves responsible by their behaviour (2014: 12%, decrease 6%)
