How Safe a Driver are You? Are you one who has never had an accident or ticket …or are you one of those who comes up with all kinds of excuses as to reasons for the latest event?

Consider what are called by the insurance industry the best insurance claims of all time...

“I started to slow down, but the traffic was more stationary than I thought.”

“I pulled into a lay-by with smoke coming from under the bonnet. I realized the car was on fire, so I took my dog and smothered it with a blanket.”

A Norwich Union customer collided with a cow. The questions and answers on the claim form were: Q: What warning was given by you? A: Horn. Q: What warning was given by the other party? A: Moo.

“I didn’t think the speed limit applied after midnight.”

“Windscreen broken. Cause unknown. Probably voodoo.”

“The car in front hit the pedestrian, but he got up so I hit him again.”

“I had been driving for 40 years when I feel asleep at the wheel and had an accident.” Z Z Z Z Z Z Z

“A truck backed through my windshield into my wife’s face.”

“The guy was all over the road. I had to swerve a number of times before I hit him.”

“In an attempt to kill a fly, I drove into a telephone pole.”

“An invisible car came out of nowhere, struck my car and vanished.”

“The pedestrian had no idea which way to run, so I ran over him.”

“The indirect cause of the road-rage was a little guy in a small car with a big mouth.”

Sometimes it’s just best to move out of the way!

Insurance claims are often because of collisions with other vehicles.

Insurance claims are not always filed because of collisions with other vehicles. Those single-vehicle incidents are sometimes more than just a bit harrowing!

If this doesn’t send shivers down your spine, I’m not sure what would…. December 2006 accident outside Hurricane, Utah. Driver crashed through the cement barricade, skirted the railing, coming to rest in the opposite way he was originally traveling—barely missing a plunge over a 200 ft. precipice by about 12 inches!!!

But these claims are not always filed because of collisions with other vehicles. It must be interesting to read the paperwork!

Apparently a common problem?

Interstate Highway 394--Deer either fell or was knocked off the Highway 101 overpass bridge, landing on top of this Durango.

I-90 near Deer Lodge, Montana Driver fell asleep at the wheel, drifted off the road, and collided with a guard rail. The guard rail impaled the SUV, penetrated the engine block, passed through the passenger seat and out the back window. Alone in the vehicle, the driver survived.

Some claims aren’t even because of collisions at all.

Imagine hearing the pawing of these hooves on the roof... followed by the crash of the roof caving in!

Does the school’s insurance policy cover foolishness?

Isn’t this a violation of the seat belt law?

Something tells me this driver’s insurance agent would not be happy.

Should he be wearing a life jacket?

The crane operator must be very glad the extension was long enough to hit canal bottom.

Looks like a fire-claim just waiting to be written up!

Please don’t tell me this is a new OSHA- approved substitute for ladders.

Wonder what he makes an hour? It can’t be enough…. and I can only imagine what his insurance carrier would say.
