Journey 2013 – group from UPMC at PUH/SHY began process 2014 – call for people interested in starting chapters posted in ANIA journal Nursing Informatics Today ◦Karen Edmunds from Excela Health ◦Renee Virtullo from GE Healthcare 2015 – presentation at ANIA annual conference about starting local chapters ◦Kathy Morouse approached the Chapters board member ◦ communication with Diane Humbrecht

Board Members and Roles Membership: Reach out to informatics departments at hospitals within our designated zip code area to join ANIA and enhance membership at our local chapter. Engage colleges and universities that offer Nursing Informatics related classes to also consider membership in ANIA. Education: Contact ANIA to discuss Speakers Bureau opportunities for our future meetings. Develop a brief Learning Needs Assessment for local members to determine education opportunities moving forward. Communication: Acquire addresses of local chapter members for internal communication purposes. Maintain and update this address list. Regulation/Advocacy: Report out National and State level issues in nursing/nursing informatics Social: Aid in determination of future local meeting sites. Inquire as to vendor support for future local meetings.
