HISTORY Gostynin, the old Mazovian town, a capital of the region, is situated on the border of „Kotlina Płocka” and „Równina Kutnowska” and on the Skrwa Lewa River. The original town of Gostynin was founed in the 13 thc by Konrad Mazowiecki on so- called „Łysa Góra” not far from Kocioł Lake. In the 70s of the 14 thc a new castle is built, and on the 8th march 1382 Prince Siemowit IV gives city rights to Gostynin.
In the same year so-called Newn Town appears. At present the town and comune has the area of 303 km2, the populationia about people. The territory of the commune is the most beautiful of the Mazowsze Region. It is the part of the Gostynińsko- Włocławski Natura Park. The Gostynin lakes are the most interesting and beautiful lakes in the part of the country. It has the area of over 1200km2.

Coat of arms Gostynin - a blue box appear in the silver city walls with the open gate. Above the wall rises to three silver towers blanks. The image of the coat of arms dates from the fifteenth century. The symbolism of the coat of arms refers to the castle Gostynin.
Interesting and attractive places
Castle Situated on Skrwa River, in 14/15 thc a gothic castle was built. After restoration the castle was most beautiful and comfortable in the Kingdom.In 1552 King Zygmunt August lived ther. In the castle was a place of prison for car Wasyl Szujski. The wars with Sweden and Russia destroyed the castle. The castle was rebuilt in 2009r.
