Element 1-Chinese Festivals The yusheng, or the prosperity raw fish salad, is a Lunar New Year specialty for the Singaporean Chinese, said the exhibition. Mr Toh added that the yusheng was something unique to the local and Malaysian culture; it is not something that originated from mainland China or Taiwan.
Element 2-Local Chinese Cuisine Bak kut teh is a prime example, combining elements from the two main Chinese immigrant groups. Yum Yum
Element 3- “Kiasu” Another thing uniquely Singaporean about the Singaporean Chinese was the “kiasu”, or scared- to-lose attitude. An example would be the habit of always being first to everything – including chope-ing your seat at the hawker centre with tissue paper
Element 4-Singlish Every country has a unique way of speaking. But nothing makes us stand out more than mixing 2 or more languages in a sentence, loads of Singlish as well as speaking at the speed of lightning.
Element 5-Patriotic No words needed.
Element 6-ERP Trying to cure traffic jams, but just pushing the jam somewhere else. Money Kings. Jk.
My national icon It’s a lion with national landmarks within it
