MY INTRODUCTION EDU671: Fundamentals of Educational Research (NMJ1606A) Teneisha Rogers Newton Miller 2/2/16

Hello everyone my name is Teneisha Rogers and I am from Chicago, IL born and raised. I have been married to Lionell Rogers for a wonderful eight years. We share two amazing children JaKayla and Lamar Rogers. Family is very important to me and my family has been the drive for me to continually work hard and further my education.

Professionally I have worked in the Early Childhood Education field for over ten years. I have an AA degree in General Studies from Malcolm X College and a BA in Early Childhood Education and Administration from Ashford University and I am three class away including this one from my MAED also here at Ashford. I started this journey with the Chicago Park District as a recreation leader for summer employment and then transitioned to the Chicago Public School system with varies titles. I was a Co-Teacher for Baby Toddler Nursery of the Infant Welfare Society Incorporation of Evanston. I was a lead teacher at the YMCA and now I currently work for Thresholds as a Parent Educator with the Mother’s Project.

My K-12 Experience I was blessed as a child to have been privileged to experience both private and public education. I received great takeaways and memorable moments through learnings of these two styles of education. My lasting impact took place in seven grade. I had a teacher, Mrs. West, who I would never forget. She believed in me and my writing abilities and I became one of the young author’s winners for the Charles Levy writing program.

My Specialization  This master’s degree is more so for my own personal purpose. I feel getting this degree will better aid and assist my educational skills. I have an interest in coming outside the four walls of the center and schools to really work closely with families and the community at large. I feel that the foundation has to laid and I want to understand how to reach those individuals and further excel has a 21st century educator. This MAED with a concentration in family and community services, I feel will support me in this journey.
