Kimball Junction Transit Center Summit County Council Presentation February 11, 2015

Kimball Junction Transit Center Project Development Since 2010 Site Approved with Park City Tech Center (PCTC-6-X) 3 Acre Site on the West Side of the Sheldon Richins Building Two Site Layouts Designed by CRSA and Lochner were Presented to The Snyderville Basin Planning Commission. The “Slant Drive” was given a Conditional Use Permit Design Reviewed and Approved by PC Transit PC Transit Applied for a $1.7M Grant from FTA and an award was made in County Council Approved $500K for construction. PC Transit also rearranged FTA Monies for Design and Summit County Received a check for $95,000.

Discussion: o Is there a need for a large park and ride facility in conjunction with the Transit Center? No - Such a facility needs to be located outside Kimball Junction so that the vehicles themselves do not have to enter the congested Junction Area People would be shuttled/bussed to the Transit Center from the Park and Ride Facility or Facilities (exact location still TBD) for a transfer to their destination. Opportunities may exist for enhanced parking around the Transit Center by co-developing additional parking with new projects in close proximity to the Transit Center. o Will the location work with “fixed guide way” transit solutions. Maybe. Maybe Not. No detailed planning for these modes of transit have been studied. It may work for some modes and may not work for others.

Kimball Junction Transit Center Completion of the Transit Center will Allow for a more Efficient Routing of the busses. o From the neighborhoods to express routes to the Canyons and Park City. o Implementation of a Kimball Junction Circulator. The RFP for Design is Ready for Advertisement.
