Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning. by Gloria Steinem

Searching for Reality by Bojan Dzodan

The inspiration for this series of photographs comes from a fascination with light and frustration with the inability to capture the magical atmosphere that the sun gives us. The author Bojan Dzodan began his practice of photography in 2006 and won many awards. His age and background is unknown except for his love of photography and his want for helping other people realize their own ideas of his photos.

h This image is based on this man whose face is not shown. That shows that it can possibly be anybody. This is important as this message is saying that it applies to everyone, even the viewer. It is further accentuated by his regular clothing which further shows his animosity. This dog is the man’s companion. It is important because it is showing the viewer that you need a companion to walk alongside you to help achieve your dream. The dog is not on a leash which helps show their companion relationship instead of the owner-pet relationship. Character

Blue sky represents things that are already good in his life but are ignored for his dream. The red and brown leaves represent how good his life already is.Other people have to tour to see such colors. But it is out into the shade of the trees by the light. It shows how everything that's already good in his life is put away for his one dream. The trees which are his obstacles are dark in color which shows his obstacles aren’t completely easy to overcome. Color

The most important thing in the image is this light. It represents the dreams that this person strives for. It is blinding and consumes the whole picture because it covers everything else in this man’s life. He can only think of his dream and not other things. And it also shows the enormity of his dream. It is actually shown between the trees(his obstacles) which shows he still has work to do in achieving his dream His whole life is geared toward achieving his dreams as his whole path is illuminated in light. But the trees stand in the way as it shows how many obstacles there are. Even the obstacles in his path are illuminated by the light. It shows that he doesn't even care about the obstacles in the presence of his dream. Light

The angle of this picture is taken from the back and the man and the dog are facing towards the light. It is taken further back to show the surroundings. The surroundings are important as it describes other things in his life other than his dream or the light he is looking at. It is taken in a place with such a calm background to show the sharp contrast of the light to show us how it dominated his life. Angle

The bright light is the biggest thing in this picture. It dominates everything else because the light makes it hard to concentrate on the blue sky and leaves and the trees. The light which represents the man's dream covers the whole image. But if it is looked at closely. The light is actually coming from between a tangle of trees and his path seems to be blocked, but the light seems to be taking over that too. Which shows his unconcern for the obstacles. But he has his companion dog with him which shows hes not completely consumed with only just achieving his dream. Proportion

It is meant to show a positive image with all the bright light. The man is only concentrated on the light in front of him. The edge of the picture on both sides are trees. An obstacle that he already got past and left behind as it is cut off. The trees in the back toward the light is shown smaller than it actually is in this picture. As the man pretty much can’t even see the obstacles as he reaches for his dream. Placement

In a forest with no other signs of life. But with beautiful autumn leaves, and shining light. Bojan Dzodan did not want other things to disturb his image with other signs of life because he wanted to show that the man didn’t have unnecessary thoughts in his life except achieving his dream. The beauty of the light and colors show us how important this dream is for him and how good it is for him to achieve that dream. Setting

Character: There is a man and his companion, a dog. the man is not facing in the direction of the camera, his can’t see his face which represents how it could be anybody. It is important to know that it can represent anyone. Even you. He is dressed like any regular person to express even more that the person can be anybody. He is out on a hike with his dog but the dog is not on a leash. This is important to show for it gives a more companionable relationship and not the owner-pet relationship. The fact that he is looking straight at the light even though its blinding shows his resolution towards his goals. Color: The other colors used in this image instead of the light are subtle colors. Meant to fade into the background and not be noticed nearly as much as the huge light. This is used to show the enormity of his dreams and his attention to it. Blue sky represents other things that can be good in his life but is ignored in his desire to reach his dream. Red and brown leaves autumn colors which represents how good his life is already is. He already has a companion and plenty of good things but it is overcast and put into the shade as he strived toward the light. His obstacles are putting a small darkness on the good things that are already in his life as the autumn colors that people tour around to see are already under his feet. Light:Bright light that the man and his dog are walking towards. Forest floor illuminated by the light. The only kind of dark spots are places where the tree is blocking the light sort of. But even though, the light is reflecting everywhere. The light represents the man’s dream. Which he can only achieve with his companions in life like the dog. His whole life is geared toward achieving his dream as his whole path is illuminated in light. But it wasn’t just easy to get there, because there are many obstacles in his path shown by the trees. The light is blinding and consumes the whole picture, to show how much the person cares about his dream. Angle:looking towards the light as it is shining at you. Taken from a back view with the man facing away from the camera into the light. Taken a little further back to show you the surroundings. It is important to see the surroundings as it represents other things in his life other than his dream or the light he is looking at. He also intentionally put in such a calm background to show the sharp contrast of the blinding light to show us how big his dream is and important to him this dream is. Proportion:The bright light is the biggest thing in this picture. It dominates everything else because the light makes it hard to concentrate on the blue sky and leaves and the trees. The light which represents the man's dream seems to cover the whole image. But if it is looked at closely. The light is actually coming from between a tangle of trees and his path seems to be blocked. But the man is bent on achieving his dream and thats all he cares about shown by how much the light is taking over the picture. But he has his companion dog with him which shows hes not completely consumed with only just achieving his dream. Placement: It is meant to show a positive image with all the bright light. The man is only concentrated on the light in front of him. The edge of the picture on both sides are trees. An obstacle that he already got past and left behind as it is cut off.
