This is a heart diagram to help you understand the flow of blood through the heart. Please label and color code your diagram. You will not be asked to label a diagram on a quiz, but use this as a guide to help you understand the functions and the flow of blood in the heart.

General Truths about blood flow… Write these on your diagram Arteries carry blood AWAY from the heart Veins carry blood back TO the heart Left and Right is from the PIG’s perspective, NOT YOURS! Atria (atrium) are located at the top, and not muscular Receive blood from veins (like the atrium of our school receives guests) Ventricles are located at the bottom, (at the V for ventricle) and are very muscular (pump blood)

1.Pulmonary Vein 2.Left Atrium 3.Left Ventricle 4.Aortic Arch 5.Dorsal Aorta 6.Superior Vena Cava 7.Posterior Vena Cava 8.Right Atrium 9.Right Ventricle 10.Pulmonary Trunk 11.Pulmonary Arteries Red color means oxygenated blood Blue color means deoxygenated blood (low oxygen)

Red color means oxygenated blood Blue color means deoxygenated blood (low oxygen)
