College Recruiting and Campus Relations By Derek Isley - Electronic Arts & Kelly Gies – Relic Entertainment

Campus recruiting is this… A lot of people think…

But it is…so much more!  First, and most importantly you need to ask yourself, your leaders, and your organization…  What do you want to get out of college recruiting?  Are you willing to go all in?  Is the organization committed to CR & CR?  What is the budget?  Can we realistically sustain this (Yes! Think attrition, recruiting philosophy, etc…)?  And… what if you are not recruiting on campus??? College Recruiting & Campus Relations Program

 So you are all in??? Then…  Starts with talent planning…  What are your talent needs for today?  What are your talent needs for the future?  An effective CR & CR program requires you to be looking 1-4 years down the road!  This is NOT in-time/industry recruiting…  You need to have EVERYONE onboard! College Recruiting & Campus Relations Program

 Get in the know…  Do your research!  Know the top schools (for your particular discipline you are recruiting for).  What are their rankings?  How many students do they grad per year?  What is their curriculum?  Who are the key people? College Recruiting & Campus Relations Program

 Campus Relations…  Know your professors!  Know your co-op coordinators!  Know the top students!  Go after the best of the best!  Don’t just know the curriculum… influence the curriculum!  Get involved! Bring your leaders on campus! College Recruiting & Campus Relations Program

 Attracting Top Candidates…  Professor referrals  Current and former co-op & new grad referrals  Alumni  Student events (game nights, tech talks, club sponsorship, etc…)  Your company's brand on campus & your company’s reputation with students  Projects & work! College Recruiting & Campus Relations Program

Campus Recruiting Co-op Hiring Co-op Experience New Grad Offer Campus Ambassador Onboarding & Community College Recruiting & Campus Relations Program

 Campus Recruiting  Do you have a recruiting strategy and a solid process?  How will you feed candidates back to the teams?  Fit interviews & tech interviews… how will they be conducted?  Hiring decisions  Offers… are they competitive?  Relocation & immigration  Tracking & stats! College Recruiting & Campus Relations Program

 Now you have a co-op… what the heck do you do with them???  Onboarding  Co-op experience (learning, developing, and fun!) & co- op community  Training, development, and performance management  Evaluation  New grad offer  Remember, they are going back on campus… College Recruiting & Campus Relations Program

 New grad offers…  They are not going to start for 6-18 months… planning!  Salaries, relocation, signing bonuses, start date, etc…  Hire students who are smart, have excellent problem solving abilities, and potential… you can train the rest!  Going on campus to hire new grads in May… you will get the leftovers! College Recruiting & Campus Relations Program

 New Grads  Onboarding  Training & development  Short-term integration  Long-term growth, development, and opportunity  New grad community  Bring’em back on campus! College Recruiting & Campus Relations Program

 Boring stuff & Important stuff…  Tracking  Stats  Reporting  Tell their stories… to anyone who will listen!  Connect! Marketing, branding, social networks, etc.. College Recruiting & Campus Relations Program

 Things to remember…  If you are doing it right…  There will be lots of declines  This means you are in the right pool of candidates  Keep a high bar, don’t sway!  Think globally!  Recruit on potential! College Recruiting & Campus Relations Program
