Basket Bonanza will continue to be in effect during lunch through November 6 th. If you choose to send in money with your child, please simply put it in an envelope with their name and label it “Basket Bonanza.” We will then help your child with this after they eat lunch. Good Luck to ALL! Red Ribbon Week Oct. 26 – 30 Monday: Respect your minds Tuesday: Respect Authority Wednesday: Respect your family Thursday: Respect your body Friday: Respect your uniqueness Mrs. Barzantny’s Bulletin For the week of October 26th, 2015 A Glimpse at Last Week Language Arts: Many of us overcame our fear of spiders last week! That’s because we learned all about them and realized they’re not so bad after all. We read several books about spiders, created spider number lines, spun math webs, counted spiders, etc.! In Fundations, we visited the letter/keyword/sound of e-Ed-/e/ and r-rat-/r/. At this time, we have been introduced to all 5 vowel sounds and we will review them everyday until we grasp them completely. Applying their sounds while trying to read and spell words is exactly our goal. We are reading stories at our instructional level during small reading groups. We always do our best to write a complete sentence about the story and most of these come home during the week. You will see them written on the thin tan colored paper. In Writing, we wrote an opinion sentence about whether or not a spider would make a good pet. You ought to ask your child what his/her opinion was! Spiders can come in quite handy! Math: Last week we started off working in small groups to create a spider number line We worked really well together taking turns to add and glue numbers to it. Our goal is to make it to 100! We consistently practice identifying numbers as well. We’re doing well counting to 30 and beyond, but when shown a number and asked to say it’s name (mostly teen #’s and beyond) we tend to get confused on how to say the number. To help reinforce this standard of recalling number names, ask your child what we searched for every day after recess! OH WHAT FUN WE HAD! Reminders Students are allowed to wear their Halloween costumes to school (Friday the 30 th ) and keep them on all day. Please spend some time showing your child how to take off their costume to use the restroom. Also, please do not send any weapons to school that may be part of your child’s costume. Accessories are fine, but pieces can easily get lost so please send them in at your own discretion. Contact Information Teacher School Website Follow us on Facebook Religion Do you know what October 21 st was? St. Viator’s day! We made cards to Fr. Paghini and Fr. Jason to help them celebrate such a special Saint since Maternity Church is Viatorian! We are blessed! Fr. Jason gave us a wonderful mass explaining this to us on Friday. We continue to show respectful behavior in church. Great job Kindergarteners!
