What is a GPA? GPA is your Grade Point Average. The average grade earned by a student, figured by dividing the grade points earned by the number of credits attempted.

Why is it important to maintain a high GPA?? In order to play high school sports, you must have and maintain a 2.o GPA. Colleges determine your acceptance based on your grades and GPA Colleges award scholarships to students with high GPAs. If your GPA is high enough (3.5 or higher) you may receive a full scholarship Books, tuition, food, room and board all paid by the college

How Do I Maintain a High GPA? PASS ALL OF YOUR CLASSES WITH AN A OR B THE FIRST TIME YOU TAKE THE COURSE!!! Take Honors and Advancement Placement Courses as much as possible as your receive extra points towards your GPA for taking the more challenging courses.

Why Receiving a HS Diploma is Important To get a good job after graduation (not just an entry level job) To get a job paying more than minimal wage (you can’t live off of $7.50 an hour) Obtaining a good job with high pay allows you to afford the necessities of life: food, shelter, car, and utilities A diploma is necessary to attend a 4-year college/university, community college trade/technical school, or enter a military branch. Provides a sense of accomplishment To make family proud

3 Es While in high school we prepare you to enter one of the following areas after graduation: Enrollment (college/university, community college or trade school) Enlistment (branch of the military) Employment (joining the workforce)

How To Plan For College: Make good grades Take challenging courses (H and AP) when ready Meet with your school counselor to plan Take two classes of a foreign language Get involved! (clubs, sports, arts, volunteer, etc.) Attendance matters!
