Mission To support the research and teaching endeavors of current and future scholars of the University and the Commonwealth.

Faculty and Staff  Linda Musser – Distinguished Librarian and Head  Elizabeth Long – Information Resources and Services Supervisor-Manager  Lee Ann Nolan – Information Resources and Services Support Specialist  Joshua Wilkins – Information Resources and Services Support Specialist  Aaron Procious – Research Assistant III (part-time)  Twelve – Desk Assistant II (part-time)|FTE 2.70

 Maintained excellent services during the renovation of EMSL  Collaboration with OPP, MatSE, and others in space planning of the library  Annexed and shifted a large portion of the collection. Removed shelving in order to rearrange and make room for users following the move in of MatSE  Reduced and reorganized our work areas to create a more efficient space  Developed an economical solution (1/3 the cost of Media Scape) for patrons to display a wider range of devices in our group study rooms  Continued efforts to enhance discoverability by adding the table of contents for books to CAT records  Hosted study break event during finals week (Spring)  Instituted a recognition program for part-time staff Achievements Highlights of the great things that the EMSL team have accomplished this past year

Programs/Activities  Film Series  Fall – 14 films | 30 total attendants (average 2 per film)  Spring – 15 films | 68 total attendants (average 5 per film)  Displays  Bulletin – 5 new presentations out of 24 displayed every two weeks  Digital – 52 new slides researched, designed, and installed | 15 presented on a weekly rotation  Continue sharing slides with EMS college  Began sharing slides Libraries-wide  Geocache – 302 logged visits online | 37 in the log book  Puzzles – provide 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle every two weeks as a study break  Social Media  Facebook – Over 14,000 views of our posts | more than 400 posts | 209 likes  Twitter –341 followers | over 1,500 tweets  Communication with American Ceramic Society, National Geographic, sustainability groups, film publishers, library faculty, staff and students!  Instruction – 24 classes | 443 students  Other programs – 6 | 144 students  Open House – 369 total visitors | 267 participants of the activity | 33 began tour at EMS  New Student Orientation participation – 15 hours  Moving/Settling into our new work space

Statistics  Hours of Operation/week  Fall/Spring – | Summer –  Total Seats – 123  comfy seating/couch – 13| group study rooms – 18| rolling chairs – 77| wood chairs – 11| wood stools - 4  Gate Counts – over 205,000 visitors  Busiest times – between 1-5 pm |Busiest day – Wednesdays  Reference – responded to over 2,300 questions  Majority took < 5 minutes | Ask Chat over 400 responses (devoted 3 hours/week)  Circulation – over 18,500 checkouts  In-house Material – over 1,700 mark item used  Course Reserves – over 5,100 checkouts  ILL – over 1,500 filled  Document Delivery – over 200 filled  Rapid ILL – almost 300 filled

Statistics  Website – 17,103 pages views  Compared to other STEM Libraries  Engineering 13,585 | Life Sciences 13,343 | PAMS 11,089  PA resources highest viewed at 3,340  13 Research Guides – 22,804 page views  #1 Pennsylvania Mines and Mining – 9,224|#2 Water Hardness – 4,493 | #3 Geography – 3,252  Added 2400 new items to our collection  World Cat (New book list) – 685 new physical items added & 15 watchers of our lists  Added Equipment for 3 group study rooms – (2) 47” LED screens, (1) switchbox, (1) 1080p webcam, wireless keyboard/mouse, various adapters for connecting personal mobile devices (i.e. Apple devices, Android devices, Mac, PC)

 Annex – sent over 15,000 inches to make room for MatSE  Collection Shift - most of the collection in order to remove stacks prior to construction

 C-14 – completed scanning cards 3,550 – 34,000  TOC – 224 titles processed (reduction due to personnel & procedure changes)  Collection Accessibility Project (inventory)  Stacks – went through 6,809 titles  Maps – went through 968 maps  Thesis – listing of theses, dissertations, and papers published by EMS graduates (completed all disciplines and have minor searching to finish up before posting online)  Alloy Digest - placed pages in protective sheeting and replaced missing copies  Annual Report of Mining – increased discoverability by creating table of holdings for various series with extended contents for each volume describing unique reports in each.  ScholarSphere – moved scans of various EMS publicat publications to institutional repository
