Objectives By the end of class the 8 th grade students will be able to do the following: answer inference, comprehension, and academic vocabulary questions about different folktales in class list the three stories we have read so far that are folktales and what specific subgenre they are

Who Wants to Get Rich Students will put chairs in a semi circle with the “hot seat” in the middle Students will choose a card with a number on it. That number will correspond to a stick. If the stick with the student’s number is called, they are up. They will sit in the hot seat and answer the multiple choice question. If the student is not sure about the answer they may use a lifeline (if available- once they’re used, they’re gone) Students will not be called back up until ALL students have gone

Who Wants to Get Rich Rules: Students in the audience are not allowed to talk once the “contestant” has reached the hot seat Students are to remember and follow class rules #16 and #17 (good sportsmanship and congratulating classmates) Students can clap and applaud for correct answers but are not allowed to express negative words or gestures toward peers Students are not allowed to talk or make gestures while someone is trying to answer a question, so if anyone is heard or seen cheating, the game will be over If the class wins (earns the million dollars,) they will all receive five extra credit points on their quiz tomorrow.
