Noun A noun is the name of a person, place, thing, or idea. A common noun names any person, place, or thing. Examples are basketball, coin, coach A proper noun names a particular person, place, or thing and begins with a capital letter. Examples are Michael Jordan, Mrs. Cosentino, Barak Obama, Detroit

Pronoun A pronoun is a word used in place of one or more nouns. Personal pronouns refer to people and things I, my, mine, me, we, our, ours, us, you, yours, yours, he, his, him, she,her, hers, it, its, they, their, theirs, the,

Verbs the action verb: tells what action a subject is performing: My brother delivers pizzas every Saturday evening. the linking verb: connects a subject to a noun. The most common are the form of to be (is, are, was, were, been, being, am) and appear, become, feel, grow, look, remain, seem, smell, sound, stay, taste and turn the helping verb: assist the main verb in the sentence. Adverbs Adverb: is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb: – Many adverbs end in ly – Answers any of these 4 questions: Where?, How?, To what extent? When? – Again, almost, alone, already, also, always, away, even, ever, here, just, later, never, not, now, nowhere, often, perhaps, quite, rather, seldom, so, sometimes, somewhat, somewhere, soon, then, there, today, too, very, yesterday, yet

Prepositions Preposition is a word that shows the relationship between a noun or a pronouns and another word in the sentence. Ex: The man swam under the bridge. The plane, Air force 1, flew ______ the clouds

Conjunctions Conjunction: connects words or group of words: Fanboys= for, and, nor, but, or, yet,so Both/and, either/or, not only/but also, whether/or

Interjections An injections is a word that expresses strong feeling or emotions: Usually comes at the beginning of the sentence Usually followed by an exclamation point! Or a comma. WOW! Hurray! Ugh, Yeah! Ouch, Phew, Well, Eh, Darn, Yippee, Help!!!! Mmm
