TRIPOTASSIUM DICITRATOBISMUTHATE D E -N OLTAB ® Indication : benign gastric and duodenal ulceration. Contra-indication : severe renal impairment. Side-effects: may darken tongue and blacken faeces.

BALSALAZIDE SODIUM C OLAZIDE ® Indication : treatment of mild to moderate ulcerative colitis and maintenance of remission. Contra-indication : severe hepatic impairment. Side-effect: cholelithiasis Dose *Acute attack, 2.25 g 3 time daily until remission occurs or for up to max. 12 weeks. *Maintenance, 1.5 g twice daily adjusted according to response (max. 6 g daily)

C HLORTALIDONE H YGROTON ® Indications: ascites due to cirrhosis in stable patients, colema due to nephrotic syndrome, hypertension, mild to moderate chronic heart failure; diabetes insipidus. Side-effects: dizziness; rarely jaundic, cardiac arrythmias, headache, paraesthesia, eosinophilia, and allergic interstitial nephritis. Dose: oedema, up to 50mg daily for limited period. Hypertension, 25 mg dailyin the morning, increased to 50mg dailyif necessary

XIPADIME DIUREXAN ® Indications: oedema, hypertension. Side-effects: gastro-intestinal disturbances; mild dizziness; hypokalaemia, more rarely other electrolyte disturbances such as hyponatraemia. Dose: Oedema, initially 40mg daily in the morning, increased to 80mg in resistant cases; maintenance 20mg in the morning Hypertension 20mg daily in the morning.

E SMOLOL HYDROCHLORIDE BREVIBLOC ® Indications: short term treatment of supraventicular arrythmias, tachycardia and hypertension in peri-operative period. Side-effects: venous irritation. Dose: By intravenous infusion, usually within range mcg/kg/min.

C HLORPHENAMINE MALEATE PIRITON ® Indications: symptomatic relief of allergy such as high fever, urticaria; emergency treatment of anaphylactic rxn. Side-effects: expoliative dermatitis and tinnitus reported; injections may cause transient hypotensionor CNS stimulation and maybe irritant. Dose p.o. 4mg every 4-6hours max. 20mg daily Infant under 1 yr. not recommended, 1-2 yrs 1 mg twice a day. Child 2-5 yrs. 1 mg every4-6 hours max. 6mg daily; mg every 4-6hours max. of 12 mg daily.

F LUPENTIXOL DEPIXOL ® Indications: schizophrenia and other psychoses, particularly with apathy and withdrawal but not mania or psychomotor hyperactivity; depression Contra-indications: excitable and overactive patients. Side-effects: less sedating but extrapyramidal symptoms frequent. Dose Psychosis, initially 3-9mg twice daily adjusted according to the response; max 18 mg daily; Elderly, initially quarter to half adult dose; CHILD not recommended.

Dose 12.5 mg as soon as possible after onset repeated after 2 hours if migraine recurs; max 25ng in 24 hours; CHILD and ADOLESCENT under 18 years not recommended.
