Canada’s name comes from the Huron-Iroquois word kanata, which means “village” or “settlement”. The first French settlers used the Indian name for the colony but the official name was “New France”. The first use of “Canada” as an official name came in 1791 when the Province of Quebec was divided into the colonies of Upper and Lower Canada. When the area came under the British rule in 1897, the new country was called the Dominion of Canada or simply Canada.

The explorer depicted in the image is Jacques Cartier. The Huron-Iroquois word for "village" or "settlement” was kanata. The first use of "Canada" as an official name came in 1791 when the Province of Quebec was divided into the colonies of Upper and Lower Canada.

Ottawa is the capital of Canada. It is a political, cultural, and one of the major economic centers of the country.

Canada occupies a major northern portion of North America, sharing land borders with the contiguous United States to the south and the US state of Alaska to the northwest. Canada stretches from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west; to the north lies the Arctic Ocean. Greenland is to the northeast. By total area, Canada is the second-largest country in the world, after Russia. By land area alone, Canada ranks fourth. The country lies between latitudes 41° and 84°N, and longitudes 52° and 141°W.

The northern parts lie in the subarctic and arctic climatic zones. This territory has a climate with very cold winters and short, cool summers. The average winter temperature is about 35 degrees below zero. The average summer temperature is about 4 degrees above zero. It contrasts with the rest of the territory, where the climate is moderate. In the south there are large areas of fertile soils. The west of the country has a mild and humid climate thanks to a warm Pacific current. The average winter temperature is about 4 degrees above zero there. The average summer temperature is 21 degrees above zero. Canadian south is known for its changeable weather. Sometimes it is too humid, and sometimes it is too dry: the weather can change very quickly.

Canada has a parliamentary system within the context of a constitutional monarchy, the monarchy of Canada being the foundation of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. The sovereign is Queen Elizabeth II, who also serves as head of state of 15 other Commonwealth countries and each of Canada's ten provinces.

In Canada, there are Eastern European, Balkan, Arab, Asian and African Diaspora. Too many of our fellow citizens, for example, only the Russian diaspora in Toronto has about 50,000 people. While political correctness in Canada has not reached such a scale as in neighboring States, but of the words "Negro" or " Arab" here is better to forget forever. Interesting local specificity : it is considered politically incorrect to use the word " Eskimo " because it means " man -eating raw meat," and the Northern natives called Inuit or First Nation, implying that these people inhabited the continent before white Tax tip Whenever you go to a cafe, bar or restaurant, have to tip - and they should be 12% of the order. All the matter is that the waiters and bartenders are paid with tax tip, and if you are greedy, they are forced to pay extra tax will be out of pocket. So even at the bar, ordering a beer at the bar, you have to unfasten tip the bartender - and for every order.

 In Canada, once it becomes clear that hockey appeared here. Hockey here dote. NHL matches show everywhere: in bars, cafes, clubs. For home viewing - especially when the local team plays - made stocking chips, beer, hockey paraphernalia and collected a large friendly crowd at the TV. Hike to the real hockey match - not a cheap pleasure: NHL Series ticket costs on average dollars. But the alternative is to go for league match of lower rank, the spectacle there is not worse!
