Drainage Analysis of the Sacramento River Hong Sun Term Project for CE 394K Department of Civil Engineering, EWRE

Project Purpose The Sacramento River locates inside a floodplain (A floodplain is the lowland adjacent to a river, lake or ocean). It is of great interest to do drainage analysis, and to look into the aspect of flood control. To exercise the basic techniques, also hopefully to get something new, specific and useful.

Where is the Sacramento River?

Region of Interest

3D Visualization of the Interested Region using ArcScene

The Geological Map Also interested in doing the Statsgo Soil map Later

DEM & NHDFlowline

DEM Cells of Negative Elevation Cell Size: 1 Arc Second spacing Resampling technique: CUBIC

Catchment Delineation

Drainage Lines

Error Info of doing AdjointCatchment Delineation using the pre-release version of Arc Hydro tool (10/21/2004) AdjointCatchment Delineation using the Arc Hydro version1.1 (08/13/2004)

Something is Missing

Something Might be Challenging

Conclusion & Future Work Fix the problem in Adjoint Catchment processing. Finished the part of Watershed Delineation. Continue to look into the flood aspect, including the Statsgo soil map of the area of study.
