Mountain range A mountain range is a group or chain of mountains that are close together. Mountain ranges are usually separated from other mountain ranges by passes and rivers.

Glacier : A large body of ice moving slowly down a slope or valley or spreading outward on a land surface

Valley An elongated depression between uplands, hills, or mountains, especially one following the course of a stream.

Hill A usually rounded natural elevation of land lower than a mountain

Planteau A usually extensive land area having a relatively level surface raised sharply above adjacent land on at least one side.

Tributary flowing into a larger stream or other body of water.

Lake A lake is a small body of water that is completely surrounded by land. Lakes are usually found in the bottom of a basin, and they are fed by a river.

Harbor A part of a body of water along the shore deep enough for anchoring a ship and so situated with respect to coastal features, whether natural or artificial, as to provide protection from winds, waves, and currents.

Bay A body of water forming an indentation of the shoreline, larger than a cove but smaller than a gulf.

Cape Piece or point of land extending beyond the adjacent coast into the sea or a lake a promontory a headland. To head or point to keep a course as the ship capes southwest by south.

Reef A submerged ridge of rock or coral near the surface of the water reduce (a sail) by taking in a reef.

Cliffs A steep high face of rock he stood on a high cliff overlooking the town a steep drop.

fiord A long narrow inlet of the sea between steep cliffs common in Norway.

Sea A division of an ocean or a large body of salt water partially enclosed by land.

Plain Free from obstructions; open; clear: in plain view. Obvious to the mind; evident: make one's intention plain.

Delta A delta is a landform that is formed at the mouth of a river where that river flows into an ocean, sea, estuary lake reservoir flat arid area or another river. Deltas are formed from the deposition of the sediment carried by the river as the flow leaves the mouth of the river. Over long periods of time, this deposition builds the characteristic geographic pattern of a river delta.

Peninsula A body of land surrounded by water on three sides is called a peninsula.

Island A tract of land completely surrounded by water, and not large enough to be called a continent.

Strait A narrow channel joining two larger bodies of water.

Archipelago An expanse of water with many scattered islands.

Basin A natural or artificial hollow place containing water.

Mouth The point where a stream issues into a larger body of water New York is at the mouth of the Hudson.

Source Source is a path of a body of water.

Dune Ridge of sand created by the wind found in deserts or near lakes and oceans sand dune.

Isthmus A narrow strip of land connecting two larger land areas.

Gulf Portion of an ocean or sea partly enclosed by land.

Desert An arid region with little or no vegetation.

Oasis A shelter serving as a place of safety or sanctuary.

Mesa Flat tableland with steep edges the tribe was relatively safe on the mesa but they had to descend into the valley for water.

Volcano A fissure in the earth's crust or in the surface of some other planet through which molten lava and gases erupt.
