Overview of Research IT Resources Services: Data Storage, Computing, Software, Databases & More Michael Wagner Division of Biomedical Informatics Research IT Open House – 9/18/2012
Mission of BMI’s Research IT Services The Research IT Services group in the Division of Biomedical Informatics provides computational resources, services and support to investigators at Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
BMI Services and IS: Separate organizations, but closely collaborating IS is responsible for –all clinical systems (patient care) –basic desktops, printers, etc. –networks, security, –24/7 helpdesk support ( ) BMI Services –Offers Research IT services (servers, storage, cluster, databases, etc) –Advocates on behalf of research staff –Provides policy and oversight for research-related systems. It should not matter who you contact, we strive to resolve problems seamlessly on the back end.
