SC2004 Exhibit Status

Proposed Schedule Exhibit ships from SLAC 7/22 Arrive Fermilab 7/29 Fermilab Quantum Universe display opens 10/1 Ship date to SC /14 Setup at SC2004 begins 11/5 Gala Opening evening of 11/8 Tear down afternoon of 11/11

Current Condition General paint and finish – OK Image Panels – OK Some small parts missing Picture support system needs work At least one video cable has broken Computers (including the kiosk ones) and video cards are available Need monitors for kiosk Count of mounting brackets and hardware needed

Repairs & Enhancements Obtain replacement parts for the picture hanging system and use a stronger method of installation. Replace bad video cables. Improve method of routing and connecting to PCs. Integrated enclosure for PCs to hide unsightly cabling. Sturdier method of mounting graphics to panel skins of outer ring. Built-in power for outer ring segments. Additional bracing for shipping and positioning outer ring segments. Create wheeled system for putting segments in crates. Sculpture repairs. Including a better system for the base platform Better packing system. Laptop shelf space at central kiosk.

Things to do Order Power and network for show floor. Order or buy furniture. Order monitors. New graphics for kiosk and outer ring. Update computer OS and test hardware. Update “collision” video for outer ring monitors. Provide presenters with test systems. Order video cables and installation. Electrical work for power in outer ring. Make modifications to exhibit structure and packaging. Logistics of setting up for Quantum Universe at Fermilab. Arrange shipping for SC2004.
