Common Core State Standards Data Driven InstructionAPPR CIA Network Committee Career and Tech Career and Tech is just beginning the discussion about CCSS in staff meetings / academic team meetings. Met recently for first time with some Sp. Ed. academic teachers to discuss common topics interests. Very data driven at Tech; collect numerous types of data, e.g., accuplacer & portfolio for academics, Technical Assessments / practicals for CTE, social and soft skills employability and work readiness credential. All data informs and drives decisions about instruction. Walkabout Walkabout is integrating CCSS into new and existing units and using individualized student assessments to align curriculum with CCSS. Walkabout is using student surveys, course evaluations, and individualized assessment to promote Data Driven Instruction

 What does real excellence in our jobs look like?  How do we know whether we are growing toward achieving this standard of excellence?  What feedback, support and resources do we need to ensure continued growth toward excellence?  How does what we do contribute to the excellence of BOCES as we pursue our mission?

Give one example of evidence that indicates what real excellence in our jobs look like: Examples: I see evidence of real excellence in my job when I meet with my colleague to plan, review and develop resources. Weekly CIA Project meeting I see evidence of real excellence in my job when I see my staff seek engagement in reflective professional dialogues. Staff feedback at faculty meetings I see evidence of real excellence in my job when I see myself and fellow colleagues engaged in dialogue on resolutions based on student needs. CIA Program Inquiry committee meetings I see evidence of real excellence in my job when I see students engaging in their own assessment. Students participating in progress monitoring process

 Accountability – true accountability – comes from within. We are accountable when we have embraced our responsibilities with all of our heart, when we have integrated ourselves so deeply in our work, into the lives and futures of our students, that our dreams include our dreams for them. ~ Dr. James Langlois, Superintendent of Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES 22
