 Son las…  A las…  Es la una.  Son las tres.  Son las diez.  ¿Qué hora es?  ¿A que hora?

 If it is 30 minutes after the hour (half past), you add on “y media.”  4:30 = Son las cuatro y media.  If it is 15 minutes past you say “y cuarto.”  2:15= Son las dos y cuarto.

 15 minutes til the hour (Quarter til) = “Cuarto para…”  5:45 = Cuarto para las seis  7:45 =

 For any other times you say “y” and the number of minutes.  For example: 7:27 = Son las siete y veintisiete.  Or simply: Son las siete veintisiete.  3:46 = Son las tres y cuarenta y seis  Or: Son las tres cuarenta y seis.

 On a sheet of paper write out the time in Spanish for the following:  8:15  9:30  2:45  7:27  9:23  (Example: 6:14 = Son las seis y catorce).

 Now write down the time in digits for the times I tell you in Spanish.  Example: I say “Son las dos y treinta y dos.”  You write: 2:32.

 Write out your class schedule for today with the times written out in Spanish for all your classes. Include your lunch.  Example: 8:10-9:50 Son las ocho y diez – Son las nueve y cincuenta. “Art class”  1 st period: 7:30-9:04 2 nd period: 9:09-10:43  3 rd period: 10:48-12:47 (lunch 11:52-12:17; lunch 12:22-12:47)  4 th period: 12:52-2:27

 Pretend you are a detective trying to catch someone. You found this voic recording as a clue to where they are going to be.  Listen to the recording of someone giving instructions and write down the times you hear on a piece of notebook paper which you will turn in. You will hear 5 times in total.

 Each group will have a leader who will be in charge of getting the materials passed out, reading the instructions, and then making sure everyone returns the materials to the folder.  Stay at your station until the time is up and I tell you to switch stations.

 Station #1: Write out your class schedule in Spanish.  Station #2: Read this letter and convert the written times into digital.  Station #3: Listen to the recording and write down the times.  Station #4: Complete the info-gap with your partner.  Station #5: Complete the telling time graphic.

 How would you say in Spanish “It is one o’clock”?  How do you ask for the time in Spanish?  How would you say in Spanish “It is 3:30”?  How would you ask in Spanish “At what time?”
