UNEG AGM 2016 Session 4: Strategic Objective 4 “UNEG benefits from and contributes to an enhanced global evaluation profession”

Session goal Session 4: Strategic Objective 4: UNEG benefits from and contributes to an enhanced global evaluation profession The goal of this session is to review the implementation of SO4 work plan and discuss SO4 outputs and next steps.

Session outline 14:00-14:20: Presentation by Colin Kirk, UNEG Vice Chair, on key achievements under the SO over the last year. 14:20-15:00: Panel Discussion / “talk show”: perspectives and options on UNEG partnerships 15:00-15:45: Group exercise on the Global Evaluation Agenda : Which bite of the apple will UNEG take?

UNEG strategy: SO4 UNEG has had a limited external profile (Independent assessment of UNEG, UNEG members increasingly learn new approaches and methodologies from other groups and networks. UNEG works to collaborate with national, regional and international evaluation networks and associations.

UNEG strategy: SO4 UNEG will contribute to the international community of evaluation practice by sharing its knowledge, engaging in norm setting, and providing a venue for exchange among experts and practitioners. By working with other entities UNEG can contribute to international efforts to increase the importance of evaluation in public policy and planning.

Key achievements… Building partnerships with the global evaluation community: on behalf of UNEG, the SO4 Vice-Chair has co-Chaired EvalPartners with IOCE since November SO4 supported EvalPartners initiatives of EvalSDGs, EvalGender+ and EvalYouth, launched in Kathmandu, Nepal, in November 2015 during the Global Evaluation Week. Also supported launch of Global Parliamentarians Forum on Development Evaluation

The UNICEF - UNEG/ALNAP e-learning on humanitarian evaluation rolled out Joint Systemic Review on Gender Equality published Course on M&E at the UN System Staff College (UNSSC) supported Input provided to the report on the UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/69/237 “Capacity building for the evaluation of development activities at the country level”
