Function: To regulating the labeling and registration of pesticides and by considering the costs and benefits of their use. Before 1972, the pesticide act was mainly targeting the protection of agriculture. After 1972, the act shifted the protection towards citizens and environment. The 1988 Act modified the registration law and required the reregistration of certain pesticides

 Before 1972, the U.S. Department of Agriculture was responsible for enforcing the act.  After 1972, the responsibility was transferred to the EPA(Environmental Protection Agency)
