CURRICULUM MAPPING

WORKSHOP LEARNING OUTCOME PARTICIPANTS WILL USE A CURRICULUM MAP TO DEMONSTRATE HOW STUDENT PROGRESS TO ACHIEVE PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES.

WHY SHOULD WE MAP THE CURRICULUM COHERENCE: NOT JUST A COLLECTION OF UNRELATED COURSES DO ARE COURSES FIT TOGETHER. SYNTHESIZING EXPERIENCES: OPPORTUNITIES TO CONSOLIDATE LEARNING ARE CERTAIN COURSES UNNECESSARY ONGOING PRACTICE OF LEARNED SKILLS: SKILL DETERIORATE WITHOUT PRACTICE SYSTEMATICALLY CREATES OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP INCREASING SOPHISTICATION AND APPLY WHAT IS LEARNED

CURRICULUM MAP Course SLO 1IDDS SLO 2I, DDDS SLO 3IDD, S SLO 4I DDS I=Introduced, D= Developed & Practiced with Feedback, S = Summative Assessment: Mastery at a Level Appropriate for Graduation

CURRICULUM MAP ANALYSIS SLO 1ID, S SLO 2I, D, S SLO 3I, DD, S SLO 4I, D, S I=Introduced, D= Developed & Practiced with Feedback, S = Summative Assessment: Mastery at a Level Appropriate for Graduation

CURRICULUM MAPS AND COURSE ALIGNMENT HOW DO THE LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE ALIGN TO THE PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES? NEARLY EVERY COURSE LEARNING OUTCOME SHOULD CONNECT TO A PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOME THE FIRST TIME A STUDENT PERFORMS A PROGRAM SLO OR COURSE LEARNING OUTCOME SHOULD NOT BE ON A FINAL EXAM OR FINAL PAPER.

CURRICULUM MAPS AND COURSE ALIGNMENT PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOME: PROGRAM COORDINATORS CREATE AND USE ASSESSMENT PLANS THAT BUILD SHALOM IN THEIR PROGRAMS, FACULTY, AND STUDENTS COURSE LEARNING OUTCOME: PARTICIPANTS WILL USE A CURRICULUM MAP TO DEMONSTRATE HOW STUDENT PROGRESS TO ACHIEVE PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES Course Learning OutcomeWhat Students Must Do to Master Learning Outcome Evidence Concerning How well Learning was Achieved Participants use a Curriculum Map to Demonstrate how Student progress to Achieve Program Learning Outcomes. Listen to Presenter describe curriculum mapping Participate in large group analysis of hypothetical curriculum maps Work in small groups to map one SLO Create Curriculum Map for all Program SLOs Presenter will observe small group activity The development of curriculum maps for programs participants oversee.

CURRICULUM MAPPING AND ASSESSMENT FRAMEWORK HOPE-FILLED: MAPPING ALLOWS US TO SEE THE PROGRESSION TO THE PROMISED FUTURE FOR OUR STUDENTS. SHALOM-FOCUSED: HELPS THE PROGRAM MAINTAIN ORDER AND BE COHESIVE LOVE-INFUSED: THIS IS DONE OUT OF LOVE FOR OUR STUDENTS SO THEY ACHIEVE CLEARLY WHAT GOD HAS CALLED THEM TO BE.

GROUP EXERCISE SELECT ONE LEARNING OUTCOME DEVELOP A CURRICULUM MAP FOR THAT OUTCOME (TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY) EXPLAIN TO YOUR PARTNER/GROUP THE DEVELOPMENTAL AND SUMMATIVE SECTIONS FOR YOUR OUTCOME. FOR NEXT WEEK: BRING ONE RUBRIC (PREFERABLY INTERNALLY-CREATED) USED FOR ASSESSING A PROGRAM OUTCOME.
