Reciprocity Agreement Programs at WVU For residents of Garrett County, Maryland, and the State of Ohio Academic Common Market (ACM) at WVU

Who qualifies for the ACM?  To qualify for the Academic Common Market you must be a certified legal resident of an SREB member state that participates in the program (  You must complete the certification process for your state of residence and be admitted into the participating institution's program of study.  You must be accepted into a certified ACM Program. How do I apply?  Contact your state ACM Coordinator ( You must be certified by your home state’s designated agency by completing and submitting the state’s ACM Certification application.  Confirm that the desired degree program is offered through the ACM.  Submit the required documentation to verify state residency.  Once accepted into the WVU program forward proper documentation to your ACM Coordinator.  If you are being admitted into engineering, contact Freshman Engineering at (304) or Inactive applicants  If you are unable to attend WVU the semester in which you have been accepted, contact the Office of Admissions to change your admission term and also contact your state coordinator to submit a new certification term and term status on your certification letter.  Your state coordinator will formally contact WVU about your change in start date. 2

Reciprocity Agreement Programs (Garrett College and the State of Ohio )  West Virginia University has a special agreement to enroll residents of Garrett County, Maryland, and Ohio Reciprocity students as full- time baccalaureate degree seeking students at resident tuition and fee rates based on criteria established by West Virginia University at its main campus in Morgantown and its Potomac State College campus in Keyser.  Students in the Tuition Reciprocity Agreement program must remain in good academic standing (2.0 or better GPA) and continue to make good academic progress toward entry into the major and completion of major program requirements.  Students on probation or judged to not be making progress toward entry into or completion of the approved program will be removed from the ACM/Reciprocity Agreement Program and charged out-of- state tuition. 3

Guidelines for Remaining in the Academic Common Market (ACM) or Reciprocity Agreement Programs at WVU  To remain in the Academic Common Market program or Tuition Reciprocity Agreement program, a student must remain in good academic standing (2.0 or better GPA) and meet the WVU standards for good academic progress toward entry into the major and completion of major program requirements. Once a student has been admitted into an ACM program he or she must follow the same guidelines to remain in the ACM.  If a student is on probation (less than a 2.0 GPA) or is not making progress toward entry into or completion of the approved program, the student will be removed from the ACM/Reciprocity program and charged out-of-state tuition.  First-year freshmen (only) who do not meet GPA and academic progress standards will receive a letter of warning at the end of their first semester. If progress has not improved by the end of the 2 nd semester, the student will be removed from the ACM/Reciprocity Program for the following term.  At the end of each term a follow-up progress audit report is completed for each ACM/Reciprocity student. Students, who do not meet GPA and academic progress standards, will be removed from the ACM/Reciprocity Agreement program and out- of-state tuition will be assessed in subsequent terms.  If academic progress is not being made, notification will be sent to the student’s home and or MIX account concerning their ACM/Reciprocity status.  Students who change their major or defer entry into the program must obtain a new certification letter from their ACM State Coordinator. Students who change their major during the semester may be charged the out-of-state tuition rate for that semester, if the major is not an approved major. __________________________________________________ More than one major or degree within the Academic Common Market (ACM) or Reciprocity Agreement Programs at WVU  Students may only pursue majors and degrees that are approved through the Academic Common Market or Reciprocity Agreement Programs at WVU. Students in these programs must obtain permission from the Associate Provost to pursue a second major or second degree that is not in the Academic Common Market. 4
