For the Students Students in elementary school right now have always used technology, classes seem outdated and boring to most because of the lack of technology used. Technology allows the different intelligences and learning styles to be stimulated for better differentiation in the classroom. For the Teachers To be able to transition with more ease to a student centered learning environment, and have more effective results in academic achievement. Organization in planning and having more realistic, objective data about student progress. For the School Increase in overall quality of educational program Improving communication of student education and progress with parents. Improving team motivation and quality of staff development.

Determine the attitudes and tools that will enable teachers to feel supported through the changes needed to make successful integration of technology into the classroom. Learn to use technology as a classroom management tool rather than a catalyst for loss of control. Increase student accountability through engaging activities and allowing them a choice in their assignments. Survey teachers about skills they feel they need reinforcement in. Review successful practices within the school Use open houses and end of the year surveys to determine technology available to students at home. T ECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION IS NOT EASY, PARTICULARLY FOR TEACHERS THAT HAVE BEEN APPLYING THE SAME APPROACHES SUCCESSFULLY FOR YEARS, HOWEVER IT IS NECESSARY FOR THE EVOLUTION OF TEACHING AND TO BETTER REACH STUDENTS. T HIS COURSE OFFERS SUPPORT FOR TEACHERS THROUGH THE TRANSITION ENABLING CONFIDENCE TO BRING TECHNOLOGY INTO THE CLASSROOM.

Planning Sessions Ongoing Evaluation Meeting with school administrators and Academic Dean to review EOY evaluations. Two week preparation: May 24 - Jun 6 Preparation for each lesson with team on Saturdays. Course beginning: June 8 Meets ever Monday of June (8, 15, 22, 29) for six hour sessions; 8 am – 2pm Participants will have work and information that will be studied in their independent time so that the practice is done collaboratively in sessions. Team meets after every session on Monday to assess progress Is available through for participants and Saturday mornings 8-10 am

Communication Participant communication will be done through , chats, and face to face sessions. Participants will be required to have and use their google work accounts for document sharing and distance participation and discussion. Administrators and facilitators will have access to all documents and participation Facilitators will enforce an open door policy in regards to any questions or projects that may not be directly discussed in sessions. Building Interest and Commitment Participants will be given a stipend for their participation over the summer as well as professional development hours that will count towards their certification renewal. Participants will have access to the Technology Integration grant that has been allotted to the district for the purchase of software or licenses needed for their projects. Upkeeping of the teacher site and other projects initiated during training will count positively towards professional performance evaluations. Participant Selection Participants will volunteer for the program to serve as a pilot group for the technology integration program. In the future, these participants will receive follow up training on how to serve a change agents as the program expands through the school. Teachers that will serve in the pilot program will be from the 3-5 th grade, including the team leaders and up to 3 other participants per grade level. Maximum number of participants: 15

In all sessions there will be continuous observation by all the facilitators; rubrics will be completed to record the progress and determine what tech content may need to be covered more in depth Session one: KWL chart to determine some of the existing experience and talent in the group. Participants will be given a quick survey to help determine their attitudes towards the changes and some of their fears so that they may be addressed by the facilitators and other participants. Session Two: Exit questions: participants will give examples of projects they may have a hard time integrating technology into. At the end of the session they will write on an index card, something valuable they have learned so far (on one side), and a question they still have on the other. Questions will be addressed by team in the discussion forum. Session Three: My favorite app so far: participants will have a group discussion of what app they feel is more in tune with the needs of their grade level and how they intend to use it. Group will determine the strengths and weaknesses of the program and come up ways to compliment the program in the classroom. Graphic organizer to display for a walk around will be posted. Session Four: Word graphic completion: activity that gives the team feedback on what the students have learned and what it is they plan to really implement after the sessions. Completion of the KWL chart from the first session. Rating survey of the usefulness of the sessions to their classroom plans.
