The Task Ahead Vision and Purpose of Meeting Vision:By this time next year all community pharmacies in the south of England will be using Summary Care Records, with permission, for the benefit of patients. Pharmacy teams will come to regard the SCR as an essential element in their contribution to health and social care wellbeing. Task:Roll-out SCR to all 1,150 community pharmacies across the south of England. This excludes multiples Purpose of meeting:To discuss some of the intricacies of the Programme and to what extend the LPC would like to help.

What are we implementing? Summary Care Records – Medications (acute and repeat) – Allergies – Adverse reactions to drugs Additional Information such as: – Significant medical history (past and present) – Reason for medication – Anticipatory care information – Communication preferences – End of life care information – Immunisations

The area to be covered

Stakeholders

The Approach – Process (1) Initiation Stage – Bid for and win contract after initial planning – Begin Programme and Project Documentation – Internal Communication and Stakeholder Engagement – Recruit team including Analyst – Database creation – Stakeholder Analysis – Establish Programme and Project Boards if needed – Agree to “Go”.

The Approach – Process (2) Preparation for Implementation – Prepare Communication Events (information packs, devise and test presentation, Privacy Officer Training etc – Brief Project Managers/Facilitators – Mailshot and contact with LPCs – Begin other Stakeholder engagement activities – Book venues and arrange speakers (>4 per county) – Confirm arrangements – End Stage – agree with NHS South

The Approach – Process (3) Implementation – Mailshot pharmacies and send communications through LPC network. Ask for Privacy Officer nominations. Include other stakeholders. – Receive replies and book into events. Populate spreadsheet/database – Host events and process Privacy Officer candidates for separate training – Regular Board reporting and to NHS South of England – Process individual applications

The Approach – Process (4) Implementation – Pharmacists and Technicians leave events excited and ready to get started – They complete the on-line training – Certificate of completion sent to PMO – Programme Analyst confirms: Training completed Privacy Officer in place for pharmacy No other risks or issues agree for that pharmacy – Programme Analyst adds codes or s for these to be added or chases/escalates if there is a problem. – Project/Programme Manager signs off pharmacy and updates the tracking database.
