Problems highlighted during Hurricane Katrina Many animals abandoned Created hazard for pets, evacuees and rescuers Separating pets from owners threatened rescues Evacuating pets put rescuers at risk Many animals and owners were never reunited Needed medical support for working canines Recognize the Issues
