Wednesday, August 10 (Last names A-L) 9:00-12:00 Thursday, August 11 (Last names M-Z) 9:00-12:00 Students rotate through 4 sessions: How to be successful in middle school Rules, Rules, Rules Scavenger Hunt…learn your way around WMS Be a Team Player…play a team game You may buy Spirit Wear and agendas at Cub Camp!!

6 TH GRADERS HAVE THEIR OWN BELLS In the purple handout there is a schedule of how the day goes. When the bell rings, only 6 th graders go to class. When the next bell rings (tardy bell for 6 th graders), then 7 th /8 th graders go to class. This cuts down on crowding in hallways and separates the 6 th graders from the older students as they adjust to middle school. There are 4 minutes between periods to get from class to class.

THURSDAY LATE ARRIVAL School starts at 10:10 am on Thursdays. Supervision/Tutoring starts at 9:45 am YMCA has a before/after school program at school if you need childcare. You can contact the West Lake Houston YMCA for information about cost and registration Opt Out Program for Thursday mornings….students may come in at 8:00 and sit quietly in the cafeteria Buses run about 2 hours later Thurs mornings

SUMMER READING All students at Woodcreek Middle School are required to read over the summer and complete an assignment over the book they read. The yellow handout has a list of novels for incoming 6 th graders. The novel must be chosen from this list. The handout also gives details about the 5 different choices they have for doing the assignment and the rubric that will be used to grade it. The assignment will be due NO LATER than September 16.

 Breakfast is served every day except Thursdays  Parents can put $ in lunch accounts online  Good idea to bring lunch the first couple of weeks  No snack time in middle school  Only water allowed in class

 All students will be given an ID card, a plastic holder, and a lanyard the first few weeks of school  Students are expected to wear their badges at all times around their necks  Badges can be replaced for a fee of $5  All privileges at school are revoked if they don’t wear their badge ID BADGES

 No earrings for boys  No holes in jeans above the knees  Shirts over leggings must be thigh length  No hats or hoods up in building  Shorts/dresses should be mid- thigh or longer  No backless/crop top/skin- showing shirts

MIDDLE SCHOOL KIDS LOSE EVERYTHING PLEASE put their name on : Lunchbox Backpack Purse Inside tab of jackets and coats If they lose something, they come to the AP office to check Lost and Found

ELECTRONIC DEVICES Students are allowed to have electronic devices at school and may use them before the first bell rings in the morning and in class for instructional use at the teacher’s discretion Students do not NEED a phone. We have phones in every classroom and can deliver messages to students from parents during the day. Students lose their phones constantly. If a student brings an electronic device to school, they are responsible for it at all times. It must be locked in their PE locker along with any other items of value during PE class. Social Media like Snapchat, Instagram, Kik, Yik Yak can be troublesome in middle school…..please monitor your child’s phones
