Stratford-upon-Avon, is a town of 25,000 inhabitants in Warwickshire, north-west England. The place is known in connection with the world-renowned poet and playwright William Shakespeare, who was born and died in Stratford. It is estimated that every year about 5,000,000 people come to visit the place in which the British literary genius lived in between the 15 th and 16 th century.
In and around Stratford it is possible to visit houses and gardens related to Shakespeare’s life. Shakespeare’s Birthplace is usually the starting point. Another place which attracts tourists is Nash’s House. Next to it there are the foundations of New Place, the house in which Shakespeare spent the last years of his life and died in New Place was the second biggest house in Stratford when Shakespeare bought it. The house no longer exists, but tourists can visit the beautiful gardens and Nash’s House, a beautiful Tudor building where Shakespeare’s granddaughter Elizabeth lived. F, Steve. The Holy Trinity Church is the place where William Shakespeare was baptised on 26 April 1564 and was buried on 25 April It is Stratford’s oldest building. William Shakespeare is buried in a beautiful 15th-century chancel, next to his wife, Anne Hathaway, and his eldest daughter Susanna.
