Early Awareness Committee In Summary... Affordability vs. COA Cost of Attendance (COA) by itself does not tell you whether a school is affordable. Affordability will depend on the amount and type of financial aid you receive to cover that costs (as well as your willingness to borrow and your possible career choice). Award letters still require students to compare costs against amount and type of financial aid to determine what best fits their definition of “affordable” and their college financing philosophy.
