The United States became industrialized during the turn of the 19 th century. HS US history: Industrialism

One key factor for the rise of industrialism was people left the farm and moved to the city so there were more workers to work in the factories. HS US history: Industrialism

A fast and cheaper method of steel production was one of the most important technological advances during the rise of industrialism. HS US history: Industrialism

The U.S. government had a “hands off” approach during the rise of industrialism by imposing few regulations on private business.

Widespread electricity for commercial and domestic use resulted in many inventions.

Standard Oil controlled over 90 percent of the oil industry by 1879.

Thousands of women, jammed elbow to elbow in sweatshop assembly lines, suffered permanent back injuries from crouching over tiny work spaces all day or night.

The Jungle showed real-life meatpacking plants in Chicago where spoiled and diseased pork was often packaged and sold as fresh meat.
