Toys and Games: CD or Online Games, Online Gambling

History of Games: The first commercial arcade video game (Computer space) was made and introduced by, Nutting Associates in 1971.

In 1972, the first Home video game system is introduced In 1972, Atari introduced the most successful game Pong to the arcades

Today there are three main competing oppositions; Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony

Game System Basics CPU User Control Interface RAM Software Kernel Storage Medium for Games Video Output Audio Output Power Supply Core components in common:

Evolution of User Control Interface To play a Racing Game you needed this:

OR Now, you only need this: The sophistication of the game controllers

Games and RAM RAM is essential for every video game system because even the fastest CPU wouldn’t be able to provide the speed and efficiency for interactive gaming like RAM does.

Games and Graphics Games were first created with simple pixilated graphics In the world today characters are very realistic and in detail

Media Storage The most common technologies used for video games are CDs and DVDs. CD-ROMs hold up to 700MB and DVDs hold up to 4GB.CDDVD As Technology is being developed DVDs are said to be able to hold more data with Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs. Blu-Ray and HD- DVDs are the newest media storage on the market

Wireless and Games Technology constantly evolves with benefits Say goodbye to the trips over the wires! Thank you Wireless Technology!!!

How Exactly Does a Video Console Work? The first video console worked with four dozen transistors and diodes! It didn’t even have a microprocessor. Each Video console works in almost the same way The games come on proprietary ROMs housed in plastic cartridges.

An Example of How a Nintendo 64 video game console works The CPU in the N64 is a Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) processor. This means that the instructions performed by the processor is less and more simple. RISC chips are superscalar meaning they can multi-task very well. N64 and the Playstation are similar.

To lower the production costs, the CPU, graphics and audio processors are merged into a single application specific integrated circuit (ASIC), instead of three different ones.

Perspective correction makes the texture map resize at the same rate as the object that it is mapped on. Trilinear mip mapping is a form of texture mapping, three sizes of each texture map are made, a large, a medium and a small version. It replaces the appearance of an object with a more detailed image as you move closer to the object in the game. The system calculates the distance from your viewpoint to an object in the game.

Environment mapping is impressive. its basically when reflections of objects are rendered and mapped onto the reflecting surface. The calculating that is done by the graphics processor determines the angle and transparency for each reflected object, and then rendering it in real time.

When a game is in the Console and the power is on The console loads portions of the operating system from ROM into RAM. The game initialization sequence is loaded into RAM. You interact with the game via the controller. Each specific part of the game is requested like the application code, video, audio and hardware-render geometry are loaded into RAM. The CPU coordinates, it receives the input from the controller, pulls the data from RAM and directs the graphics and audio processing. You are finally beaten by the game

Online Gambling Online Gambling questions the legal action of whether money laundering can be detected or not. Online Gambling is just gambling over the internet using your credit card or debit card as betting money. It is a difficult business to run as states do not give the proper licenses and the search engines are taking these websites out of their searches.

Social Impacts Economically: Games are beneficial as they play a large part in the world today. Gamers can earn money via game tournaments. In-game advertising can raise sales Culturally Games like Age of the Empires can teach you about the lifestyle and culture of communities as well as influence culture Legally: games and game cubes question the capability of legal actions and of how well the infringement of copyright laws can be reinforced. Involvement of new technology and hardware can effect sales like Sony’s PSX with the DVD hard disk recorder is against patent infringement and had to stop sales For example in Greece people was fined or sent to jail for bringing any kind of digital game into the country in When Virtual Game Items are stolen, what can you do? Theft is difficult to detect over the internet..

Health: Obsession of playing games and exhaustion can lead to heart failure. It will also lead to Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) Psychological: Games can get people so obsessed with it, they will sell and earn money for virtual items. For Example A man in China killed another man because the other man was late on his payment for the virtual game item. Limiting people on playing games will make them want to play more games which may make them rebel. Privacy: Online Gambling servers and Gaming servers are not 100% safe as they do try to protect you information. However these websites commonly get hacked into. Equality: Games are not specific or specialized for males and females

DVD- digital video disc is a high density compact disk that stores large amounts of data, especially high-resolution audio- visual material. CD - compact disc is a small optical disk which stores data such as music, text, or graphic images that is digitally encoded. VR -virtual reality is a computer simulation of a real scenario that enables people to perform operations. Stereo lithography is a three-dimensional printing process that makes a solid object from a computer image by using a computer-controlled laser to draw the shape of the object onto the surface of liquid plastic.
