WA Health Consumer, Carer and Community Engagement Framework Developed in 2007 to assist WA Health implement meaningful consumer, carer and community engagement strategies

WA Consumer, Carer and Community Engagement  Since the Framework, engagement activity has increased but there are many other drivers of this (eg accreditation)  Currently there are a variety of engagement activities occurring state wide in many sectors

Review of the Framework A revised Framework needs to: Align with updated strategic plans, standards, frameworks and charters Clarify engagement outcomes and how to measure these Consider Aboriginal, CALD, Disability, Youth and Mental Health populations

National Frameworks

WA Engagement Resources  Many Consumer, Carer and Community engagement frameworks, guidelines, strategies, toolkits and resources throughout WA hospitals and health services  Currently work is being done at the Clinical Senate level

Consultation Plan  Engagement Workshop  Consumer, Carer and Community Network  Focus Groups  WACHS Engagement Workshop  Survey  Aim to have a draft Framework in 6 months

Engagement Workshop For each question:  Group discussion  Nominate a scribe and spokesperson  Write down responses to the question  Spokesperson to communicate one main point to the Workshop group
