Facts & figures  580-bed, single-site, general hospital  Over 3,000 employees  Services more than 400,000 patients each year (c. 20% from Wales)  One of first 10 Foundation Trusts (April 2004)  Income of around £140 million Trust  Supports around 2,000 workstations (desktop & laptop)  Revenue budget of £4.3 million (3%) includes Applications, Infrastructure, Information, Clinical Coding, Health Records, Switchboard IM&T

Why was the Countess selected to pilot PACS?  Project manager & board already in place since 2003  Demand for PACS from clinicians & Executive commitment to fund  No other major NPfIT distractions (replacing PAS etc)  Very sound technical set up – applications & infrastructure  Proven track record for delivery

What were the key success factors?  Very strong leadership from Clinical Director  Whole hospital approach – not just Radiology  Co-operation & support from CSC, GE & Meditech  Excellent product integrated with another excellent product  Great teamwork at all levels …
