The main objectives of AAH-I- Health Sector  To ensure standardized, functional, equipped, staffed health Facilities providing a minimum package of health services  To Increase community access to information and services as per the Minimum package of PHC services.  To contribute to the MOH HRH development effort.  To strengthen managerial & technical capacity of the CHDs  To provide Environmentally friendly, sustainable and renewable energy and safe water to the community/ HFs

AAH-I Operational areas

Projects/ Programs under Health Sector  USAID funded - Integrated Service Delivery Project (ISDP): Morobo, Yei, Mundi west, Maridi & Ibba counties.  BftW funded –  Regional PHC project  Maridi Nurses & Midwifery Training School  Solar power and water system supply project to the selected 42 Health facilities in CES & WES of South Sudan

Major Successes  40 Students (20 Nurses & 20 M/Wives) have report to MNTS and teaching resumed after interruption due insecurity  Implementation of Photovoltaic and rain water harvesting project was completed in 2015  Construction of two PHCUs through active community mobilization

Key Challenges  Ongoing insecurity, political & Socio-economic crisis in the country  Reduced USAID funding to all ISDP projects – severe budget cuts that affect activities personnel  Population & resource pressure on host communities due to IDPs  Vandalization and looting our Mundri west field office and three PHC facilities in Mundri west county

Lessons learnt  Close working relationship/ efficient communication with the partners (community, authorities, NGOs, Donors & staff)- will ensure maximum security, support and trust  E.g the response to the Maridi fuel tanker disaster  Successful construction of two PHCUs  Quick response to security warnings led to staff safety and protection assets  Synergy in the design & implementation of health projects continue to be one of the cornerstone of our success.

Plan for the year 2016  Enhance and consolidate the performance of the existing health projects  Complete ISDP transitional period & manage the transition from by ISDP to HPF2 (April 2016 – November 2016  Scale up resource mobilization and venture into other thematic areas like Safe water & sanitation, emergence response etc

Support needed from HC  Sharing of up to date prevailing political, security and socio-economic information & trends in the country  Lobby for adequate allocation of resources for health by donors and the Government.  Continue sharing health related information and issues  Re-establishment of Mundri west CHD, Mundri west PHCC, Bari and Garia PHCUs

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
